Privacy policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026
We collect as little personal data as we can. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable Indian law.
Viewers
You can watch press meets without an account. We use a single essential session cookie to keep the site working (for example to protect forms) and to count one view per visit. We do not run advertising or tracking cookies.
Organisers and journalists
When you register we collect your name, email address, mobile number, password (stored only as a salted hash), and:
- Organisers: organisation name, type, website, location and description.
- Journalists: media house, designation, beat, press ID number and location.
We use this to create and secure your account, verify you, show your organisation name or your name and media house next to questions and press meets, and contact you about your account. Your email and mobile number are never shown publicly.
We send emails for your account (welcome, verification results, password resets and password-change alerts) and, unless you switch them off on your Account page, for activity such as answers to your questions and accreditation decisions.
Following an organiser. If you follow an organiser we store your email address and the organiser you chose, and send a confirmation link first. Nothing else is sent until you confirm. We then email you once each time that organiser announces a new press meet. Every email has an unsubscribe link. Unconfirmed requests are deleted after 7 days, your address is deleted soon after you unsubscribe, and all followers of an organiser are deleted if the organiser's account is deleted.
Reminders for viewers. If you ask for a reminder about a press meet we store your email address and the press meet you chose, and send a confirmation link first. Nothing else is sent until you confirm. We then email you shortly before the press meet starts and when it goes live, and tell you if it is cancelled or moved. Every email has an unsubscribe link. Unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 7 days, and subscriber addresses are deleted 30 days after the press meet takes place.
At sign-up we email a one-time code to confirm that the address is yours; codes expire and are never kept in readable form once the email has been sent. Logging in with an emailed code works the same way.
We use an email delivery service to send these messages, and keep a log of sent emails for up to 30 days to fix delivery problems.
Questions and press meets
Questions you submit, and the organiser's answers, are public once approved and show your name and media house. Press meet pages, statements and files are public.
Third-party players
Streams are embedded from providers such as YouTube, Facebook and Vimeo. When a player loads, that provider may collect data (including through its own cookies) under its own privacy policy. We use privacy-enhanced embeds where the provider offers them.
Retention and sharing
We keep account data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for legal and security reasons. We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers that help us run the Service, or where required by law.
Your rights
You do not have to ask us. On your Account page you can correct your name, mobile number and email address, download a copy of your data, and delete your account, which erases your profile and personal data. Journalists' questions that an organiser has already published stay in that press meet's public Q&A without the journalist's name; press meets an organiser has published are removed together with their account.
Organisation and press-credential details are checked by our team, so ask us to change those. For anything the Account page does not cover — withdrawing consent, nominating someone to exercise your rights, or a complaint — write to our grievance officer and we will respond within the time required by law.
Sign-ups whose email address is never confirmed are deleted automatically after 30 days.
Security and children
We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls. The Service is not intended for people under 18.
